Hello Cory Community,
I hope everyone enjoyed a nice long weekend. Things at school are setting into more of a routine now and we are full steam ahead!
First off, thank you so much for the many donations for Harvey relief. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. We have boxes and bags full of clothing and school supplies. Thank you so much! In many of our classrooms teachers are working on making connections to current events. It has been wonderful to hear kids and teachers discussing some of the events happening in our world and the ties to their learning at school. These connections to the world beyond the school walls are important for our students to see the relevance in the themes and ideas they learn in school each day.
Secondly, on a more operational note, a quick reminder that at pick up at the end of the day we need parents to wait until 3:20 to start lining up at kiss-and-go. This allows C3 students and families to finish pick up safely. On our shared campus, there are only 15 minutes between each school’s dismissal. We want to keep students and families safe and able to pick up their children easily at the end of the day. Thank you for your cooperation.
Lastly, we had a great turn out at our first PTA meeting. It was wonderful to see so many parents gathered to support Cory. Remember there are still several opportunities to chair a committee or support the PTA in small and large ways!
Have a fabulous weekend.
Sincerely,
Liz TenCate

Personal Success Factors
Personal Success Factors, or PSF, are part of a character education program that is in its second year at Cory. The traits include self-control, curiosity, gratitude, optimism, social intelligence, grit, and zest. These traits are based on research about what makes people successful in school and life. At Cory we are focusing on one trait a month. Teachers will engage in activities such as reading stories that exhibit the traits, discuss what each trait means, and give positive feedback to students exhibiting each trait. The focus for September is self-control.
