Homework Policy

1st Grade

Literacy

20 minutes of required nightly reading; weekly phonics-based spelling practice; optional enrichment activities outlined on the ‘suggested home learning’ activity sheet sent home monthly. Optional writing assignment sent home weekly.

Math

We will send home homework pages for parents to support classroom learning, and there will be optional enrichment activities outlined on the ‘suggested home learning’ activity sheet sent home monthly.

Special Projects

Science Fair project (optional)

2nd Grade

Literacy

20 minutes of required nightly reading; weekly phonics-based spelling practice; other cross-curricular activities will be sent home on an as needed basis; a team created monthly newsletter will outline content and give additional resources and activities for parents to align with the month’s learning targets.

Math

Each child will take home an optional daily math homework sheet (unless it is an assessment day). Math fact fluency practice will be provided as needed; a team created monthly newsletter will outline content and give additional resources and activities for parents to align with the month’s learning targets.

10 minutes of nightly multiplication / division math fact practice (as needed); optional enrichment activities outlined on ‘suggested home learning’ activity sheet sent home at the beginning of each module.

Keppler: Weekly differentiated computation / problem-solving packet given Tuesday due the following Tuesday (graded) Moreland / Javernick: Zearn or ENY paper packet following lessons. Assigned and checked Tuesday-Tuesday.
