Parent Post – February 16, 2018

Hello Cory Community,

Last [Thursday] night we hosted the final two candidates for the Principal position at Cory at our Community Forum. Candidates were asked a variety of questions related to developing relationships and community within a school, leadership style, collaboration, instructional expertise, developing inclusive learning environments and strategic planning and implementation. Both candidates took unscripted questions from the audience and were able to share about their own professional and personal successes in leadership. The final stage in this process will be the interview with the Denver Public Schools Superintendent, Tom Boasberg. Both candidates interview with Mr. Boasberg on February 21st. We hope to have his decision by the end of next week. I look forward to working with the new leader to further deepen and refine the work we have already begun on effective differentiation, inquiry, increased engagement and alignment of practices to our vision and mission. Once the candidate is selected, we will host an opportunity for you to come and meet her– stay tuned. We are excited to move forward and begin developing a relationship with our new leader.

Finally, Please remember there is no school on Monday in recognition of President’s Day and no school Tuesday to provide time for parent-teacher conferences. Have a wonderful and safe long weekend. We look forward to seeing everyone back on Wednesday.

Best,

Elizabeth TenCate

Calling all families!

Please turn in Box Tops through February 23rd.  We are half way to our goal of $1000.00 for the school year and we need your help to reach it.  We are collecting box tops in the office or you can turn them into your Teachers.
This is an easy way to participate in extra funding for our school.  Look in your pantry today and see if there are any you can cut off cereal boxes, etc and turn in to give Cory that extra support.
