PARENT POST 9/7/18

SEPTEMBER 7, 2018

NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

We have had a great week of learning, building strong relationships and setting high expectations for all students to explore new ideas and ways of thinking. I am so proud to see our scholars own and follow expectations.

We will have our first school-wide assembly! I am so excited to celebrate with our students, but also begin building school-wide language to support mindfulness and Personal Success Factors. We will begin with a mindful minute to focus our minds and bodies.  This month our focus is self-control.  As a community we will explore what that looks like at school and in our lives.  We also won’t forget to celebrate our friends and community.

I am also excited about two new committees forming to support our mission and vision.  Below are the aspects of the mission and vision that will be supported.

  • Opportunities for creative expression using technology and the visual and performing arts.
  • Authentic connections to the community, country, and world.
  • Service learning and social action projects.

The Fine Arts committee has found wonderful fine art experiences for all students to explore.  We are so appreciative of our Cory Community for supporting the arts.

The Service Learning committee is also beginning to develop ideas to support service learning opportunities within our curriculum but also for our community.  I can’t wait to share more information as this committee begin to meet.

We are so excited about the real world opportunities being provided at Cory! Have a wonderful weekend filled with joy, fun, and rest.

Best,

Joan Wieser

Family Handbook
The Family Handbook will be shared next week.  We are so sorry for the delay, but we want to ensure that all the information is accurate and meets the needs of our community.  We appreciate your patience.

Cory Logo Vote
With the upcoming revision of the Cory website, we wanted to take the opportunity to redesign the Cory logo considering the nature of the school being a 1st-5th. We would the community to vote on the Cory Logo.  Please follow the link and make your selection.
