Hello Cory Families,

We are so excited to welcome you to a new school year!  We are looking forward to continuing the work we began last year around cultivating our student’s curiosity, challenging them intellectually and helping them develop a sense of responsibility for themselves, their community and their world! We will continue our backwards planning to map out our instructional units spending time digging into designing highly engaging and challenging learning experiences.  I can’t wait to begin my first year here as the new Cory Principal continuing to lead the work our teachers were so engaged with last year.

We are very excited to celebrate the newly released, fantastic CMAS Data (the data from our Spring standardized state assessments) with our community!  Cory is one of the very top schools in the district and state for CMAS Growth in Literacy and Math last year.  We are so excited to share specific numbers with you soon! We are so proud of the work our teachers and students did last year, with all of your support, to make such extraordinary gains!  Congratulations to everyone for your hard work, determination, and dedication.

Please remember that Meet the Teacher Night and Popsicles with the Principal is tonight from 4:30-5:30.  We are looking forward to seeing everyone and kicking off the school year with this opportunity to begin connecting again as a community!  If it is inclement weather, we will have popsicles in the cafeteria.

Remember the first day of school is this coming Monday. It will be a full day. Remember school begins at 8:45, the bell for students to line up rings at 8:40. The day ends at 3:30. Students will line up on the blacktop number assigned to their classroom. Teachers can let you know this number this evening. You will also see all teachers out Monday morning starting at 8:30 to greet students. Please ask any staff member for help if you are looking for your child’s classroom line outside on Monday.

Important Dates:
Back to School Night is Aug. 30th from 5:30-6:30.

Parking Update on Florida!
Please be aware of the no parking and tow signs on Florida.  The city is putting in bike lanes that will run from South High School to Monaco on Florida.   Please be mindful when parking tonight and this year.  There will be a representative from the City to answer any questions you may have on Back to School Night. We appreciate your cooperation.

Discovery Link Parking News
If your child will be participating in Discovery Link before or after school, parents need to park in the parking lot and escort their students into the cafeteria.  We want to ensure that every child is safe.  We appreciate your cooperation.

Can’t wait to meet everyone this evening.

Joan Wieser
Principal
