MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Cory Community,
Welcome Back! I can’t believe the first day of school is right around the corner. I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer full of new adventures, quality time with family and fun in the sun! We are so excited to share our upcoming plans for this school year. Our driving focus is on the whole child to ensure that students have the academic and social skills to engage and connect in meaningful ways.
We heard from DPS regarding their updated mask policy. The guidance will require masks indoors for all students and staff beginning August 9, regardless of vaccination status. Cory follows DPS guidelines in health and safety matters, and we anticipate that all staff and students will wear masks while indoors when we return to school. Students and staff do not need to wear masks while outdoors or when alone in offices. We are still waiting to hear more guidelines and will update you as soon as possible.
We will update you if anything changes, but please plan for all students to begin the school year with masks indoors.
Other updates:
- Compacted Math will be back with pre-assessments before each unit to keep the groupings flexible and grounded in data
- Bell time for next year 8:20-3:20- We are working with Stephen Knight to support arrival and dismissal
- Students can be dropped off at the playground at 8:10. The playground will be supervised.
- Teachers will greet and dismiss students each day outside.
- It is important that families do not arrive before 8:20 or before 3:20 to Kiss and Go so traffic congestion doesn’t occur for C3 Kiss and Go. The Kiss and Go will be extended further down the street. Please follow the signs when using Kiss and Go.
- Health and Safety Guidance – this will be updated weekly- changes will be highlighted and noted
- CORY 2021-2022 CALENDAR (Please keep in mind this varies slightly from the DPS Calendar.)
- Art, Music, PE, Library/Tech will be back in full
Upcoming:
- Next week, I will share the updated Family Handbook with updated procedures for the school year. We will also welcome our new staff to the community.

- August 13th Classroom letters from your child’s teachers will be sent to your email welcoming your child.
