Dear Cory Community,
It has been a great week here at Cory. Our testing is almost finished, next week will be the last week. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday our 3rd graders take their math tests and our 5th graders take the state science tests. We look forward to wrapping the standardized testing up and moving on to more exciting experiences for our students.
In the coming weeks our math teachers are digging into hands-on, project based learning experiences. These projects challenge students to apply the math standards they’ve been learning throughout the year to solve real world problems. We have just started this exciting work and look forward to the opportunities for our students to apply their mathematical knowledge in new and interesting ways.
In other news, this past Thursday our new Principal, Joan Wieser, was able to spend time at Cory observing our data teams, classroom instruction and getting up to speed on some of the work we’ve been doing this year. She will formally visit all classrooms on May 1st to introduce herself to the kids. Joan is so excited to be joining this fantastic community of families and educators.
Finally, we hope to see you all at the auction next Friday. If you have not already purchased tickets please click here. The auction provides much needed additional supports for our school and its programs. We look forward to seeing you all there! It promises to be a great event!
Have a wonderful weekend with your family.
Best,
Liz TenCate
