MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Cory Families,

Happy Friday! I want to highlight the consistent themes that I observe in our remote and in-person classrooms.  I observe teachers building strong relationships, planning for authentic learning, allowing time for play and the arts, increased attention to children’s overall well being, and collaborative learning experiences which are essential to supporting the whole child.

With such an uncertain and challenging year, many have feared ‘learning loss’ which creates a fixed mindset filled with repetitive remediation and disengaged students. I am proud of our staff who reinvented what school looks like during such a challenging year.  Our focus on building strong relationships allowed our staff to understand what children know or have experienced so teachers can support students in building on and drawing connections to new learning.  With focusing on social emotional supports and skills through the students day, our staff has enabled students to see their strengths, own their learning, and be confident in their ability.

Cory’s bell schedule for next school year is slated for 8:50-3:50.  Although, the district determines our bell schedule with transportation, there may be some flexibility in changing our bell time.  I would like staff and community feedback to determine the ideal bell schedule for Cory.  Please take a moment to complete this brief survey. Bell Time Survey.

I will be sharing more information about next school year in the coming weeks.   I am still waiting for important updates from the district for the 2021-2022 school year.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Best,

Joan Wieser
