Cory Families,

I want to thank our amazing community for the wonderful support of our students and staff. We Love the 90s auction raised just over $230,000 (after expenses)! I am so grateful for the support for all our students to have engaging opportunities.

Hi! This is Ella Jennings, Luca Camozzi, Olivia Viola the Principals for the day.  We were busy doing classroom observations, announcements, and monitoring student behavior. We ran the fire drill and ensured all students were safe and out of the building.  We also had a lot of Starbucks ‘coffee’ and snacks;) We also did a lot of duty on the playground.  We also had a lot of fun!

We are excited to be inching ever closer to our summer vacation. With the anticipation of break there is important information that you as caregivers need to know about current district policy regarding Chromebooks and
summer usage. The district has decided that all students will need to return both their Chromebook and charger at the end of the school year. This is mainly for repair, maintenance, and inventory of the current assets of all schools. All Chromebooks and chargers will need to be returned to Cory no later than Wednesday, May 31st. Please complete this form so we can ensure that our devices are serviced and ready for the school year or if you need to check-out the Chromebook for the summer.

The Cory Elementary Equity Committee is excited to present the Cory Elementary Parent Equity Education Series!

This series will include 4 learning opportunities for parents in the Cory community to gather together and engage in learning around different topics that impact equity in education.

  • The first session (The Use of Language) was Tuesday, February 7.
  • The second session (Building a Shared Why) was Monday, March 6.
  • Session 3 (Color Blind vs. Color Brave & Belonging) – Monday, May 1, from 5:30 – 7:00 pm, in the Cory Cafeteria

* Pizza will be provided for sessions 3! Please indicate if you are a vegetarian when you RSVP.
** If you need child care, it will be provided in a different room at Cory Elementary. Please indicate if you need child care and the age of the child when you RSVP.

Please RSVP for session 3 by Friday, April 28. You may RSVP by emailing Amber Bourgeois, at amber_bourgeois@dpsk12.net

We are excited to share that our Cory Girls on the Run (GOTR) team will be hosting a ONE DAY ONLY, USED Book Sale on Thursday, May 18th right after school from 3-4 PM on the Cory playground.

Please donate any and all used books or magazines you have prior to Monday, May 15th. There will be donation boxes by the front office and in each hallway for students to come and drop off their used books in. Cory is home to 1st-5th grade, so younger age books you have outgrown are welcome!

On the day of the sale, hardcover books will be $1.00 and softcover books/ magazines will be $.50. For the cost of a single new title at the bookstore, your student can bring home an armload of fresh summer reads! All proceeds will go to Tennyson Center for Children to help fund their new Residential Foster Care Program. Cash and Venmo will be accepted on the day of the sale.

Please reach out to Coach (Ms.) Wilberg with any questions. Thank you for supporting our GOTR and our community!

Spring class pictures are live and ready to order! Head to Cory’s picture day dashboard to find galleries and more information.

Once a family is enrolled — or accepted — into a DPS school, the next step is registering with their school. This is the annual process of providing and updating student and family information on file, including emergency contacts, health information and more.

Registration can be done online, during Early Bird registration.. We recommend registering online because it’s convenient and saves time. Families can register online for the 2023-24 school year during  the “Early Bird” window, May 8-19.

To register online, sign in to Parent Portal, click on “See All Apps,” then click on “Online Registration” to verify or update your student’s information. Online registration can only be completed by the parent/guardian listed in the primary household of the student record

A Note about Program Locations

Students are assigned to a Summer Connections host school based on its proximity to their boundary school, not their school of choice (if applicable). If you do not wish to attend your host school, in the application process, click “no”. This will allow you to see a list of schools available to you. Please note, selecting a school that is not your home school will disqualify you for transportation.

A Note about Transportation

Summer Connections offers transportation in the morning and in the afternoon to students who live more than 1.0 mile from their assigned Summer Connections location. Students must register before April 15 to be guaranteed a bus stop. Distance is calculated from the student’s home address to the Summer Connections location. You will be notified if your student is eligible for bus service.

Be sure to link your loyalty number to Cory so our school can earn rewards. Learn more, and here is more information on registering on your laptop or mobile device.

Due to the ever changing weather, the lost and found has quickly filled up. It is very difficult to identify and find something that was lost when it is swimming in such a huge sea of sweatshirts, coats, hats and gloves. Thus, we are going to try something new. Most of the lost and found has been bagged up and placed in the back of the auditorium. All parents are welcome to come and look through that bag if they are trying to find something that is lost. We will keep that bag for a couple of weeks so that there is ample time for parents to come and look through it. After a couple of weeks, the bag will be donated to families in need. If you would like your student to look through the bag, tell them to come and talk to Mr. Conklin and I will help them look through it. Thanks so much and please message me directly if you have any questions.
