Congrats to our basketball team who did a great job this year! This group only lost 1 game the entire season! We are proud of our cougars!!!
Boden led the fire drill this week! We appreciate his leadership!!

Cory was recently awarded a grant from the Denver Public Schools Foundation to provide opportunities for students to learn about cooking by using the natural resources our school garden and chicken coop. This award came from the Denver Public Schools Foundation’s A to Z Grant Program, which funds materials, resources and opportunities that fall outside classroom budgets, and have a lasting impact on students. The A to Z Grant has funded more than $2.95 million to schools in DPS since the program’s inception in 2006. You can learn more about DPS Foundation and support the A to Z Grants on their website

The Family of Community Engagement is offering a Social Media Safety for Families Workshop on March 12 from 5-6 p.m. This session will provide resources and tips for families on the dangers of social media and how to help students stay safe and smart online. Families will gain valuable information and collaborate with other families on technology safety solutions. We will launch an interactive training module for DPS families as well to use after this session and receive certification they have completed the training. Families can learn more and RSVP here

Dear Cory Community,

Happy Friday!!! We had a wonderful week at Cory.  Students had many opportunities to learn and engage with peers on complex texts and tasks! Today, we had our First Friday assembly

Cory’s Equity Team created our second Student Equity Experience Lesson on Diversity (slides 14-28). A few things to note:

  • This unit will be taught March 4th- March 8th
  • The Equity Team has curated a list of read aloud videos that represent our Cory student population. Please look through the videos and choose 1 book a day to ground in for Monday- ThursdayThese read alouds can be found on slides 18-26. General reflection questions to ask after the read aloud can be found on slide 27. We also encourage you to pause the video and lead a conversation where it feels natural and comfortable with you.

CMAS SCHEDULE
Cory will begin CMAS testing on April 3rd, 2024. CMAS measures student proficiency on the Colorado Academic Standards.  These standards provide clear and consistent guidelines on what students should know and be able to do at the end of the year, across grade levels and subject areas. Grades 3-5 will take English language arts and math assessments, with the addition of science in grade 5. Our team worked diligently to create an equitable testing schedule. Testing will begin promptly at 9:00am. Please ensure your Cougar is here on testing days.
