MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL Hi Cory Families,

Happy Friday! Today, students and families no longer need to wear masks outside. However, students and families have the option to continue wearing masks outside.  The Cory staff increased the safety guidelines, wearing masks outside, to ensure the safety of our staff and students when our COVID numbers were very high.   Since we have seen a decrease in COVID numbers, the staff determined it was appropriate to end wearing masks outside.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Please enjoy the following communication from our Cory students!

This is Mr. Scherkenbach, the principal for the day.  I am so happy to share my experience being a principal at Cory! We had such a busy day with meetings with teachers, the PTA and supporting some students in the classroom.  I also monitored students at recess,  set up inside lunch for our students, and did some observations. I learned how teachers were evaluated, and I was surprised how long the evaluation was.  I really enjoyed seeing all the kids and teachers were working hard to do their very best!
Thanks,
Mr. Scherkenbach

Starting February 7th-March 4th, we will be starting One book One Cory. All of Cory (teachers, support staff, the principal, office staff…) will be reading, Me Frida and the Secret of the Peacock Ring by Angela Cervantes. The author will visit us online on March 4th. She even sent us some signed bookmarks to give to students. Mrs. Miller has a website where you can learn more about the book, watch videos, and do activities. https://sites.google.com/dpsk12.net/corylibrarywiki/one-book-one-cory Thank you PTA for buying all of the books for the whole school.

Hope you have a good day.

Hello Cory Families!

I hope you have enjoyed the beginning of the New Year and your families remain healthy. We are looking for new volunteers to add to our chicken volunteer list.

Student grades 1st – 5th, need to be accompanied by a trained volunteer to care for the chickens.

We are hoping to get more parents, grandparents, or other old siblings involved in our program to get each grade level into the coup daily, Monday – Friday (maximum 3 students per class).

What is involved in becoming a volunteer?

  • Short volunteer training done by one of our long-time volunteers
  • Volunteer shifts are 30 minutes in length
  • Volunteer duties – supervisor students as they:
    • Feed chickens
    • Provide fresh water
    • Collect eggs
    • Turn Hemp
