A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Happy Friday! I would like to celebrate all the families who joined us for Cory’s first literacy night. We learned so much about reading from the Podcast, discussions and learned what Cory is doing to support students literacy needs. Click here for the hand-outs from literacy night. I would like to thank Mrs. Clark, Mrs. Weaver, Mrs. Golden and Ms. Wilsted for creating an informational parent evening.
The Cory Cougars are still working with the theme of gratitude for our PSF factor. I am so grateful that I have the privilege to be the principal of such an amazing school. I can’t think of a more rewarding job or better place to work. A few things I’m thankful for:
Thanks for all you do!
Joan

CORY PTA SPONSORSHIP
The Cory PTA is planning to restart a year-long sponsorship program for businesses, specifically those connected to our community, during the 2019 calendar year. Sponsorships provide an opportunity for businesses to express support for public education in general, and the mission of the Cory PTA in particular. Participating businesses will have banners displayed on the school fence on Steele Street, annual auction benefits, and recognition on the school website and social media. Sponsorships of this kind greatly benefit our school and are not unique to Cory; there are many public schools which have similar practices, including (as many of you have likely noticed), Stephen Knight. The Cory PTA Board has thoroughly vetted this with Joan Wieser, the district, and the city. All potential year-long sponsors must be approved by the Cory PTA board and the school administration, and will exclude any organizations that are not in line with Cory’s mission.
This sponsorship program will help the Cory PTA continue its long-standing tradition of supporting our paraprofessional program, specials teachers, technology additions and upgrades, community building events, performance and musical arts experiences, and much more. If you have any thoughts, concerns, or suggestions about restarting a year-long sponsorship program at our school, please reach out to Marti Freeman, VP of Community Outreach at Coryelementarypta@yahoo.com. We will also have an open discussion at our upcoming PTA Meeting on December 7th at 8:45 AM.
