Dear Cory Community,

One of our goals at Cory is to make sure that each student and family feels safe and welcomed.  We work hard to ensure that outside conflicts do not affect the culture of our school community.  Cory is a very diverse school community and with many global crises potentially impacting our families, we want to partner together to keep our school community safe and welcoming.  Below are resources that any family can use through DPS.

  • Care Solace and Hazel Health to connect the DPS community to mental health care and substance use treatment. In addition to the support our mental health team members provide, Care Solace and Hazel Health will make getting access to mental health services and resources quick and efficient.
  • Judi’s House– Grief Support
  • If you would like to connect and gain support from a mental health professional please reach out to the School Based Health Centers for DPS. To schedule an appointment click here
  • Comprehensive list of resources through DPS.

Please reach out if you need more support, I am here to support and help navigate any concerns families may have.

The fall celebration is coming up! On 10/31 we will celebrate the season with costumes, treats and a parade! Costumes must be appropriate for school.  Students can wear masks as long as it is not scary or has gore.  No weapons or props with the costume.

At 2:00 students will be able to change into costumes and our class will engage in Fall festivities. We understand that not everyone celebrates, and that costumes/parades can be overwhelming for some. There will be alternative activities available in the art room with Mrs. Murphy, if your child does not participate. Please message your classroom teacher, so we can ensure accommodations for your student.

A couple of reminders:

  • The weather is getting cooler so please make sure that students come to school with appropriate clothing as we will go outside on colder days.
  • Please remember NO dogs on school grounds. We love our pets but they can’t be on campus
  • Please do not ride bikes, scooters on the playground during drop off or pick up. We have over 400 students coming and going at the same time and would hate to have anyone get hurt.
  • The weather is changing and we go outside every day. Add a sweatshirt or jacket in your student’s backpack.
  • Keep an eye on the Lost and Found area. It is starting to fill up with items.

We are also wrapping up our third unit of TSEAL. Unit 3 focused on Self-Regulation. Students spent intentional time building their self-regulation tool-boxes and practicing skills to regulate when they experience strong emotions. Check-out our Unit 3: Self-Regulation lessons here! Be sure to ask your Cougar what their favorite self-regulation tool is! For the month of November, our Cougars will learn and grow their skills focused on gratitude.
