MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

With the arrival of colder weather, I wanted to let everyone know that we will continue to have recess, lunch and PE outside. Please remind students to expect to go outside each day for recess, lunch, and PE.  I ask that students wear appropriate clothing to keep them warm outside. Obviously, if it is too wet or too cold, we will stay inside with strict protocols for indoor eating.

Amazing learning is happening at Cory! I appreciate our teachers for collaborating together to create projects and STEAM opportunities to engage our students curiosity and passions.  Students are working on projects that engages them in solving real-world problems or answering a complex questions.  As a result, students develop deep content knowledge as well as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication skills. This instructional approach  unleashes a contagious, creative energy among students and teachers.

We are wishing everyone an enjoyable few days off for Fall Break. As a reminder, Cory will be closed Friday, October 15 and Monday, October 18.  We will see everyone on Tuesday! I will be sharing detail plans for our Fall Parade next week.  We are excited to bring our community together to celebrate!

Best,

Joan Wieser

Calling all leaf-rakers, wheel-barrow-riders, and donut-eaters!  Cory’s annual Grounds Clean Up Day is happening on Saturday, Oct. 30th from 9:30am – 12pm!  We’ll be raking leaves, clipping branches, planting bulbs, and helping put the Cory Garden to bed for the year, all while enjoying refreshments (did we mention donuts!) and good company!  Students, parents, siblings, alums,
grandparents, and any other Cory fans welcome!  An assortment of adult-sized tools and leaf bags will be provided, but we could use a few folks with portable leaf-blowers and bulb donations. Families are also encouraged to bring along gloves, leaf grabbers, and any kid-sized gear for young helpers.

Mark your calendars, and please sign up at the link below to join us and bring some supplies.

FRIENDS OF CORY – UPDATE

Cory PTA’s annual direct giving campaign, Friends of Cory, is off and running. To date, we have raised $11,600 towards our goal of $70,000 and achieved 12% family participation! Thank you to those of you who have already contributed! If you have not yet given, please consider making your gift today. The FOC committee is offering the grade with the highest % of participating families during the campaign this year a pizza party for the grade. Please check with your company on matching gifts; most companies will match your donation!
