4th graders participated in the game Building Colorado: Cities which combines history, economics, and geography. Students worked in teams to develop cities while making their own choices about actual historic events in Colorado, which is the next unit of study. Way to go teams!
Our Cougars enjoy First Friday assemblies;)
Today, kids worked in groups to show their knowledge of various topics from ancient Egypt. Ask your child tonight to tell you what they were an expert on for our class. Kids focused on farming along the Nile, cities in ancient Egypt, hieroglyphs, and ancient Egyptian gods.
3rd Grade sharing what they learned about the Ancient Roman Civilization

Dear Cory Community,

Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday break! As we start the new semester and new year, it is that time of the year that we continue teaching in this school year and start looking forward to the next school year. This includes budgeting around our priority areas. Cory is a committed community school that values the supports for students. One of the critical parts is ensuring we have identified priority areas from our students, staff, and the community. The School Leadership Team and Collaborative School Committee met this week to prioritize the budget and determine areas of need.  We are thankful to the families who attended the CSC meeting this week to determine priority areas.  I will share more budget information in the coming weeks.

We were so excited to welcome students back! First Friday today focused on RESPECT. Students learned what respect is and how to be respectful.   Although it was a short week, many of our Cougars received Pride Tickets for flexing our values!  We are so proud of our Cougars!

ROUND TWO! Schoolwide Social Emotional Screener!

Help us get 400 Cory parents/ guardians to complete our new school wide, social-emotional screener called the BESS!

Parents and guardians, please help us, help your child grow socially and emotionally this year! Please complete the ratings again, even if you did it in the Fall.

Take 5 (or less!) minutes to complete the Behavioral and Emotional Screening System (BESS) screener for your child. This helps us to better understand your child’s social and emotional needs. Results will be shared with your classroom teachers at the end of February so you can compare your child’s Fall and Winter ratings. The Winter screening window will remain open until mid-January and will reopen again in Spring for the final screening period of the 23-24 school year. You can complete the WINTER screener for your child by clicking on the link below. Thank you for your partnership!
