Today, all schools received their rating on our School Performance Framework (SPF), which provides our school with a snapshot of how we are doing in regards to academic status, growth and ensuring equity amongst all of our students. This information helps us understand where we can improve to better support our students.
We are pleased to announce that Cory Elementary has received a “Distinguished” rating, due to our high growth and status. “Distinguished,” or blue on the color-coded stoplight, is the highest rating a school can earn.
Denver Public Schools (DPS) created and began using its school rating system in 2008, before the state began its rating system, and has kept this system in place, as it is more comprehensive. Our focus in DPS is on ensuring our kids truly are ready for success in college, career and life. Our system includes a broader number of measures and is, we believe, more aligned to the goals of our Denver Plan 2020. For example, we include measures for early literacy, aligned to our goal of A Foundation For Success in School, and readiness for college, including what percent of graduates must enroll in remedial courses in college, aligned to our goal of Ready for College & Career. In addition, I invite you to hear about our in-depth SPF results on Thursday, November 17th from 4:00-5:00 pm at our CSC Fall Forum. At this forum, I will discuss where we as a school have areas to celebrate as well as a highlight of our growth areas. We will be aligning our growth areas to our Unified Improvement Plan (UIP), our plan for teaching and learning at Cory.
We thank you for your continued partnership with our school and are excited about our continued distinguished rating! Go Cougars!
In celebration,
Jennifer Harris
