All students have the opportunity to engage in Fine Art experiences with the support of our wonderful families. Students enjoyed and engaged with the Swallow Hill Music performance. Grades 1-3 learned about the History of Rock and Roll while 4-5 learned about the History of Colorado through song. If you are interested in learning more about Swallow Hill, please click on the link.
Our 5th-grade class invited CU Discovery to Cory to teach us about the human body. They provided a wonderful hands-on lecture and then instructed the students on how to dissect an eyeball, heart and lungs. The students were given the opportunity to use a pair of scissors and their hands to cut and identify. It was an AMAZING experience for everyone involved.
Thank you for your incredible support during this school year! I am very proud of the many accomplishments our school has attained. This has been a fantastic year! I appreciate the many families and community members who helped lead our school. Thank you to our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA)! As a result of your support and participation, we look forward to higher levels of academic achievement and continued student growth by providing wonderful opportunities for our students and funding the mission/vision of Cory.
I would like to thank our families who are volunteering their time for our Scholastic Book Fair. Teachers were treated to books and delicious food on Wednesday. I know that our staff appreciates the support and resources for their classroom.
Have a wonderful weekend!

During the week before Thanksgiving, the Student Council is holding a drive to collect needed items for the St. Francis Center, a local organization that works to help families and veterans who are experiencing homelessness transition into permanent housing.
If you are able to support the drive, please bring in the following items to your child’s teacher starting on Monday, November 18th:
Although the Center is able to help people get off the streets, they often don’t have the necessary supplies. They really appreciate our help and support!
Are there books gathering dust on your child’s bookcase? Would you like to make room for the new books that your child will want to buy at the book fair? Well, you’re in luck. Third-grade students will be collecting gently used books to give to students at a nearby DPS elementary school. Book drive boxes will be located throughout the school from November 14th through the 21st, so start collecting those books. We can’t wait to see what a difference we can make when we all work together to give back to our Denver community.
Students and families are invited to attend Cory’s first-ever literacy night! Come dressed as your favorite book character (optional) and enjoy a variety of activities that celebrate a love of reading and writing. Please plan to come with your child and enjoy the events in the link here.
Volume 4 of The Cory Times is in the works and we know your children would love to have their voices heard! We are in search of articles on community issues or events, school happenings, comics, poetry and artwork from students in all grades.
We are set to send the paper to the publisher December 6 and will be accepting article submissions anytime between November 4 – December 4.
Please email your child’s submission and/or any questions you might have to thecorytimes@gmail.com. Thank you for your support and encouragement of our young writers!
Please consider assisting with the Winter Art Walk and Winter Concert using the below link. The volunteer shifts and opportunities are varied and flexible, and your assistance is much appreciated! Thank you!

Our next workout at Shred 415 could raise $600 if we can fill all the spots! Please see the link below for December and January workouts and sign up!
*There are 8 childcare spots with Shred 415. Please indicate if you need childcare when signing up. These will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you missed any prior communication on our workouts, this is what we are doing:
Cory is partnering with gyms across Denver to raise money and bring Cory families a special workout each month. Come join the community, get your sweat on, and raise money for our school at the same time.
Each workout class held will be 30-60 minutes, $20/per person, and 90-100% of funds raised will go directly to Cory. Day of the week, and time of day will vary by gym. Space is limited based on capacity per location. First come first serve basis.
Thank you – Daddy-Daughter Dance
The very first Daddy-Daughter dance was a success on Saturday night. Thanks to the families who organized and provided for this fun event. Ticket sales help support Cory and we hope to see this as an auction buy-a-share event again this Spring.
THANK YOU – GROUNDS CLEAN-UP DAY
Thank you to Margit Archer and Kristin Axley and their families for coordinating the Cory grounds clean up. We had a lot of support from parents and kids. Summer was able to take close to 100 full bags of leaves to the leaf drop-off site for Denver.
THANK YOU – CORY DINES OUT
Thank you so much to everybody who dined at Brightmarten or ordered take out! With your awesome support we were able to raise $700 for Cory! Mark your calendars for December 10th at Bull and Bush! See you then!
5th graders! Be sure to schedule your shadow day and parent tour at Merrill during the months of November, December and January. Experience a morning in the life of a Merrill 6th grader, learn all about Merrill has to offer and discover why it’s quickly becoming the number one choice for middle school for Cory 5th graders!
Did you know that this year’s Merrill 6th grade is 89% neighborhood kids? That’s up 20% from the year before! What an amazing testament to the community supporting its local middle school and keeping kids and families together after elementary!
