Message from the Principal 

Cory Families, 

We hope everyone had a safe, fun winter holiday and a happy new year. The staff and teachers at Cory are excited to be coming back to school. We have many engaging learning experiences planned for the second semester of the school year. We encourage you to ask your children what they are learning in school and we hope they share about the projects they are working on in their classrooms.

Choice and Enrollment opens next week. Please make sure your household information and address is correct for your student. If it needs to be updated, bring your information into the office and we will update it for you. 

Reminders: 

  • Please ensure your student has money in their lunch account if they want to purchase lunch or a second milk. 
  • Please pack healthy snacks for the students to eat during the snack break. 
  • On P.E. days, please make sure your child is wearing shoes appropriate for P.E.  
  • Please do not park in the handicap spots unless you have a handicap pass that is registered to you and your car. 
  • Please do not use the small parking lot for pick up or drop off of any students.
  • Please do not park in the Reserved family spots at any time even after school lets out as families can be picking up students later and have purchased those spots for anytime!
  • Please do not stop in the middle of the parking lot to drop off kids. 
  • When picking up your student early please give the office a little bit of time to call your student down to leave. We do not pull students before you get here. Please pick up your  students by 2:45

The Winter BESS Social-Emotional Screener opens 12/21 for parents. PLEASE complete this survey (it takes only a few minutes) for your child. This parent survey is required to be completed by all 1st-2nd grader students, and highly encouraged for 3rd-5th graders. The class and grade level with the most parent completion for the Winter BESS will be rewarded!

We are excited to announce the Summer Academy, running from June 9-July 3, for students below and significantly below grade level. This program will enhance math and literacy skills while fostering creativity and social growth.

Program Highlights: Math and Literacy focus.

  • Computer Science LEGO challenges.
  • A field trip.
  • Qualified teachers and staff.

Schools will start at 8 a.m. or 8:30 a.m. with sessions lasting four hours. Some schools may offer all-day sessions based on need. Registration opens later this winter with limited spaces. We will let you know when registration is live, but you will also receive notification from DPS if your student qualifies for this free opportunity. If you have questions, contact the DPS Activities team or email summer-academy-2025.groups@dpsk12.net.
