Message from the Principal

We had a wonderful week learning and building new understandings of our content. We are also seeing students engage with our TSEAL strategies to solve problems with peers and overcoming challenges.  We are so proud of our Cougars! Cory’s enrollment is consistent from previous years.  We are currently at 408 (historically we have averaged between 410-415 students).  In the spring, the district projected Cory to have 421 students for this year and that was how we created our budget. As we did not make that projection, we owe DPS around $90,000. Even with this unexpected expense, our budget is in a good place. I am thankful for our PTA and amazing community because your donations and support supplements my budget, which allows us to save money and still provide the staffing model and programming that we want for our students. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.  This year, Cory will be re-applying for the GT Magnet status. We will be sending out surveys to gather information from all stakeholders about our GT model and ways to improve the support of our gifted learners. We are excited about this opportunity to re-imagine our model and the best way to support our students.  Have a wonderful long weekend! We will see everyone back on Tuesday!
