Cory Caregivers,
What an exciting week we've had at Cory! I wanted to share some highlights and celebrate our community.
Our students continued to show incredible effort and engagement during week two of CMAS testing. We're so proud of how our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders are demonstrating their knowledge, persevering through challenging tasks, and showing pride in their work. Thank you for supporting your students at home—your encouragement makes a difference!
We are thrilled to welcome back our 5th graders from their Balarat outdoor learning experience! We heard they had a fantastic time and were engaged in meaningful learning throughout their stay. Balarat is much more than a field trip—it's a transformative learning experience that develops critical life skills our students need:
Independence & resilience: Students learn to navigate challenges, adapt to new environments, and build confidence in their abilities
Teamwork & collaboration: Living and learning together teaches communication, cooperation, and how to work through conflicts respectfully
Connection to nature: Outdoor experiences build environmental awareness, curiosity, and appreciation for the natural world
Social-emotional growth: Being away from home and peers helps students develop self-awareness, empathy, and emotional regulation
Leadership & responsibility: Students take on roles and responsibilities that help them see themselves as capable, contributing members of a community
These experiences shape not just what students learn academically, but who they become as people. Thank you to the teachers, staff, and Balarat facilitators who made this possible.
Our focus will be on celebrating growth, building on the skills students have developed, and ending the year on a high note. Thank you for your partnership and support. Enjoy time with your families, celebrate your students' efforts, and have a restful, joyful weekend.
A Cory alum (and Merrill 7th-grade student) is conducting a project on the cost of youth soccer in our community and access issues in youth sports. If you have a child playing club soccer, please consider completing this anonymous 5-minute survey. Thank you in advance for your participation.

Drive with Care in School Zones
With warmer weather in the forecast, more students will be riding bikes and scooters to school, increasing the number of pedestrians in our school zones. This past week, an incident took place at a DPS school during morning drop off. These types of occurrences jeopardize the safety and well-being of our students.
To ensure all students, staff and community members remain as safe as possible near our schools, please remember to drive with care and attention. Slow down, stay alert, avoid distractions and be patient.

On this dashboard, families can:
• View and order their spring individual photos and the 5th grade group
• Contact us directly for any questions or support
Class photos are available for families to view and order, but they're listed under Fall 2025 for them. So, they'll need to view/order them from that separate gallery. Both are available on the picture day dashboard https://thebloombeehive.com/cory.
