MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Cory families,

Welcome back! We’ve had a great week welcoming back our students remotely and we are very excited to see them in person next week. Although we’re back in person, we’re still not back to normal. We have many safety procedures and protocols in place to ensure our students and staff stay healthy. We realize it’s been a while since all our students have been in person, so here is a recap the information.  Here is a video of the information.

SCHOOL HOURS: in-person 8:55-2:55

  • In-person students will arrive at 8:45. Students may arrive in increments between 8:45-8:55 for a soft arrival. There is no set time to arrive based on last name.
    • They will then go to their designated door and will directly go to their classroom to meet their teacher for a health check.
    • Children may not come to school prior to 8:45 and there will be no playing on the playground or on the blacktop.
    • 8:45: Students can begin to arrive at school.
    • 8:55: Learning Begins—Students arriving after 8:55 check into the office before going to class.  No parents/guardians may enter the building.
    • Students will be eating outside every day.  If it is too cold or too wet, we will use the larger indoor spaces for lunch. This is a school-wide decision whether or not lunch is indoors or outdoors.  If students eat inside, each classroom will have a designated space either in the gym, cafeteria, or auditorium so students can be spaced out while eating.
    • 2:55 Instructional Day Ends—Students pack up to go home! We will do soft closure for students following the same protocol for arrival. Please arrange a location to pick-up your child each day to build a routine because families can not wait on the blacktop or playground to pick-up their student. Families in grades 1st and 2nd can drop-off and pick-up on the blacktop. There is no set time to pick-up based on last name.
    • Children may not play on the playground or on the blacktop after school.
  • Families can visit this site for COVID-19 related resources or information on returning back to school.

Parking and Kiss and Go

C3 also has Kiss and Go that lasts until 2:45pm.  We are asking Cory families not to arrive before 2:45pm for Kiss and Go.  Kiss and Go will also follow the soft closure. Please be aware that there is no picking up or dropping students off on Steele and Florida.

Please complete the health survey for your children each day before arrival. Here is the Safe Access Link

All students must wear masks throughout the day unless they are eating or are on a structured mask break. We plan on going outside unless it’s wet or icy, so make sure your child is dressed for the weather. We will play in the snow! Check out our full safety plan here.

The safety of our community is our top priority.   On Monday, January 11th, we will once again welcome students back to in-person learning.  Thank you for your flexibility and understanding during these unusual times. Please reach out if you have additional questions or if there’s anything we can do to support.

Best,

Hi Cory families! The Key Club, a service based club, at South High School, would like to offer free tutoring to any students who would like some additional support. Starting in January every Tuesday from 3-4 pm there will be a google meet where students can stop by to get some 1 on 1 assistance from a high school student in any subject. If you are interested please send an email to 731192@dpsk12.net to be added to an interest list where you will receive further information when the time approaches.
