Principal Updates

Happy New Year, Cory Families!  I hope your holiday break was full of relaxation and memories to last a lifetime.

Here at Cory we are hitting the ground running in preparation for the second semester.  Time is bound to fly as we have State Assessments, our Annual Auction and of course our end of year events that we are already busy planning.

A few quick updates to kick off January:

  • Optimism! This month we are focusing on the word OPTIMISM as one of our Personal Success Factors.  We are teaching students how optimism is, “you believe that effort will improve your future, and you stay motivated when things don’t go well”.  We look forward to seeing all of the optimistic quotes and sayings that the students will be writing this month and encourage you to check them out when you stop in.   Click Personal Success Factors for more information on this character strength as well as all the others we will be studying this year!
  • Collaborative School Committee (CSC)- One topic that is coming up this week is our 2017/18 Budget planning. We will be discussing our proposed budget with our CSC next Thursday, January 19th and invite anyone to join in on the conversation.  I will use feedback from both the staff and the CSC to build our budget and draft our requests for PTA Funding.  Please click CSC Agenda for more information.

For those of you who cannot make our meeting, we will be sure to post the minutes and documents shortly after the meeting.

Last, but certainly not least, I sent out an email to all of you this morning regarding the sad news of the sudden death of one of our very involved parents and community member, Jane Fell.  If you did not receive this email, I have linked it here.  It includes supports for children around the topic of death and grief.

I also wanted to remind you of the opportunity to give back to our community.  Another one of our families who recently experienced the traumatic unexpected loss of two of their family members in a short time span is in need of financial assistance.  Please click this link for more information on how you can support this family during this time.

Thank you for your never ending love and care for our community.

In partnership,

Jennifer Harris

Cory Annual Auction

It’s GO TIME! Family Sponsorships and Auction Items Needed. Check Your Email for Invitations to Special Pre-Auction Events.

The success of Cory’s most important fundraiser of the year depends on the generosity and participation of the Cory community! In addition to purchasing tickets, consider donating a STAR FAMILY SPONSORSHIP, an AUCTION ITEM or hosting a BUY-A-SHARE PARTY.

Be a Star Family for Cory! Family sponsorships are vital to making the Cory Annual Auction a successful fundraiser for our kids. Your $125 donation goes directly to support the teachers and programs that make Cory one of the best elementary schools in Colorado. Each family sponsor will receive a digital image for social media use, recognition on the auction’s Facebook event listing and entrance in a VIP drawing at the auction on April 7.
