Parent Post – December 15, 2017

Posted December 18, 2017

Hello Cory Parents,

Last night we hosted the annual Art Walk and Winter Concert featuring our students in 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade. The art on the walls of Cory is just fantastic! If you haven’t had a chance to walk the “gallery” please try to stop by. After admiring the art work,  families enjoyed cocoa outside on the blacktop. After the brief refreshment families walked on the path, lit by student created luminarias, to Merrill to hear students perform several songs about winter, peace and joy. The students did a beautiful job.

The science fair this week was also a wonderful success. Students did amazing experiments on a variety of topics including light, sound, space, physics, energy and so, so much more.

Another great opportunity for kids happened this Friday. Our students in book club had an opportunity to Skype with writer Suzanne Selfors, author of The Sasquatch Escape, the first story in the Imaginary Veterinary Series.  The kids loved the opportunity to meet, virtually, and speak with the author of the book they just read!

In principal selection news, our CSC met this week to select the final candidates for the Principal Selection Committee. There were many applicants and a limited number of spots. The CSC worked hard to try and select candidates who represented several stakeholders across the school community. It was very difficult to narrow down the candidates—all of the applicants would have made great representatives for the Cory community.

The final committee will be:
Faculty:
Brent Conklin
Sara Clark
Sarah Laughlin
Diana Golden
One classified staff member still to be identified

Parents:
Laura Quartarone
Marissa Ferrari
Bill Esbenshade
Dana Carpenter
Kristine Hawthorne

Lastly, please come check the Lost and Found for missing items before the break. Any items left at school after December 22nd will be donated to the Denver Indian Center.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Elizabeth TenCate
