PARENT POST – 4/19/19

April 19, 2019

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Cory Families,

I would like to thank all of the incredible parents and community members who supported our school this year. The partnership that parents have with teachers and me is one of the things that makes Cory such a fantastic school. Thank you to everyone who volunteered in classrooms, organized a community event or participated in the PTA and CSC. Additionally, it was wonderful to see such a great turnout at the Cory Auction – I hope everyone had an enjoyable time!

April is a very busy month for the students here at Cory Elementary. We are excited that standardized testing and end of year testing is coming to a close. We are excited to get back to learning and engaging in projects for the upcoming Math Museum and Culture Week.

Spring is here, however that still means unstable weather. Please send your child with jackets and/or sweatshirts in the morning. Thank you for your help and support in making sure that your children come properly dressed to school!

Each spring, the Denver Public Schools sends out a Parent Satisfaction Survey.  This year we’re having changes to this.  First, it’s being renamed the Family Satisfaction Survey.  Second, we’re going electronic this year.  And third, we’ll send out the link to it in early May which is later than it’s been in the past.  The purpose of the survey is to gather feedback from families on multiple areas within the school.  We’ll keep you posted when it’s available for your valuable feedback.

Best,

Joan Wieser
Principal

IMPORTANT CHANGES TO THE KING SOOPERS GROCERY CARD FUNDRAISING PROGRAM
As of April 1st, King Soopers has launched a new Community Rewards program, which eliminates the rechargeable grocery card program that the Cory PTA has used for years.

How can you help support the new program?

It’s easy! The new Community Rewards program is linked to your loyalty program (SooperCard/AltID) number that you typically use at checkout.  For Cory Elementary to earn rewards, you need to link your loyalty number to Cory.

Here’s what to do:

  1. Go to: www.kingsoopers.com and log into your account via your loyalty program number.  If you don’t have an online account or you don’t currently have a loyalty program number, you will need to create an account to participate.
  2. Once logged in, go under My Account, click on Community Rewards.
  3. Under Find My Organization, search for Cory Elementary (or use the organization id VB246) and click enroll.
  4. Cory Elementary is now linked to your account and will receive a donation every quarter from King Soopers.

For more details on the program, check out Community Rewards on the King Soopers website.

What happens to current King Soopers grocery cards?

Your current gift cards will not expire or lose value. The balance will remain the same as cash with no expiration; however, if you reload the gift card, Cory Elementary will not receive any benefit, as of April 1st, 2019.

Also, these changes do not impact the Safeway Neighborhood Rewards grocery cards.  Safeway grocery cards are still linked to Cory Elementary and support our school.  Cards are available in the front office.

CORY DINES OUT – MONDAYS (APRIL) AT CAMPUS LOUNGE

Thanks to the Campus Lounge for supporting Cory during the month of April. Every Monday in April, Cory has the opportunity to earn dollars from the Campus Lounge. It’s easy, eat dinner, order beers, receive a token for each beer ordered and place the token into the Cory Elementary bucket. Tell your friends about it as this applies to all patrons, not just Cory families. Just make sure to put the token in the right bucket!
