MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Happy Friday! We had a wonderful math morning. Students were engaged and sharing their learning through intentional exploration. As we begin to learn more about the workshop model, we are becoming more aware of differentiation strategies to support all math abilities through rich exploration and discussion. Thank you all who attended.
This Saturday many Cory staff members will be attending the Gifted Guild conference. The topic this year is on Vitamin C: Critical Thinking, Creativity, and Curiosity. This will be a great opportunity for our staff to gain more tools to refine our units and build more opportunities for creative expression, critical thinking and service learning.
Congratulations to 5th graders who raised $551.62 at their wax museum! In conjunction with their human rights lessons the money is sent to communities in underdeveloped nations to help families have food and a way to raise money so their children can attend school! 10 small farm animals along with 2 goats, 6 chickens, 3 rabbits, 9 ducks and a cash donation were provided because of everyone’s generous donations! Thank you for helping to make such a difference in the lives of others!
There have been many concerns expressed about the unsafe parking conditions at Cory. Student safety is our number one concern. There have been many incidents in which student safety has been a concern. We hope through clear communication, we can make our environment safe for our shared campus. If we do see unsafe driving, parking or conduct, we will notify DPD. We encourage our community to do the same if you see these situations.
1. Please do not park in handicap parking spaces if you are not handicapped. We have more families than spaces to accommodate. Please be mindful and aware of how these choices impact these families. Cars will also be towed from these areas.
2. The staff parking lot next to the cafeteria is not a drop-off zone for Discovery Link, Band, or for tardiness. It is unsafe as many students cross this lot to enter Discovery Link. In addition, we have been denied garbage pick-up due to cars blocking the dumpsters. We are replacing the broken cord to bar this area during school hours. Please be aware if you try to pull into that lot.
3. The C3 pick-up area on Iowa Avenue has become a concern as parents are using that space for arriving early. C3 dismisses school before Cory so please do not park there if you arrive early as that area is used for the C3′s Kiss and Go Lane. We appreciate your cooperation to keep our shared campus safe.
4. If there is no parking in the main lot, please do not park your car behind other cars. This is not only unsafe, but creates a back up of cars that will spill onto the street. Cars will be towed if they are parked in undesignated zones.
We appreciate your partnership and collaboration. Have a wonderful weekend!
