MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Thank you Cory Community for your patience and support this week.  Students did an amazing job adapting to new teachers and learning environments.  We are so proud of our Cory students showing kindness to one another and our guest teachers.  We are very glad to be back operating on a normal schedule and hope everyone has a wonderful long weekend.  We appreciate all your support for staff and students at Cory.  We look forward a great week next week!

BOX TOPS COLLECTION ENDS 2/25/19
Forget candy hearts and chocolate – Feed the Cougar Box Tops this Valentines Day. It’s that time again, to collect another round of Box Tops – each one is worth $0.10 for our school. Set a small goal to send just 5 Box Tops back with each Friday folder – small amounts add up!   We will be collecting now through February 25…so start clipping and send in those Box Tops.

LOST AND FOUND
Lost and Found is filling up fast!  Please take a moment to come in and see if anything belongs to your child.  All Lost and Found will be bagged up for donation on Friday, March 1st.

A Parent & Child Activity for ELA Families
Happy Chinese New Year!
WHEN: Tuesday, February 19 @ 4:45-5:30 pm
WHERE: Mrs. Butte’s Room 209A
WHY: Let’s get together to celebrate the new year! We will learn about how families in China celebrate & make a holiday craft. We will also learn about the Summer ELA Academy and other summer educational opportunities for your student.
Plan to stay for Cory’s Art Night that starts at 5:30 pm. You won’t want to miss it!

NEW CORY SPIRIT GEAR FOR THE YEAR
There’s some exciting news Cory Cougars! We are having a Spirit Gear Drive for two weeks only! February 22, 2019-March 8, 2019. Along with this information is an order form. No need to send orders or payment back, simply visit the online link to order:  www.SpiritGearDirect.com/Shop

After Spirit Gear receives your order and payment, they will ship all orders to Cory and we will deliver to classrooms. Please allow three weeks from the end of our drive to receive your order. Any damaged items can be returned within two weeks from receiving them. No extra items will be available so don’t miss out on this fun opportunity to get new Cory Gear!

GIRLS ON THE RUN
Girls on the Run will start the week of March 4th – May 15th (no practice during spring break.) Girls on the Run inspires girls to a lifetime of self-respect and a healthy lifestyle through an innovative program that combines training for a 3.1 mile run/walk race with a fun, health education lesson plan. We will meet Mondays and Wednesdays after school from 3:30-5 on the field (inclement weather location will be Mr. Doyle’s classroom.) Open to all 3rd, 4th and 5th grade girls. ART NIGHT

Families are invited to an open-house Art Night, that will showcase the Cherry Arts Mobile Art Gallery installed in the Cory Halls.  Families can tour the Gallery (led by 5th grade docents), participate in 4 super cool art projects and view Science Fair projects. Projects will feature:

  • Soothing Hearts for Seniors
  • Pinwheels for Peace and Art Installation
  • Bird Feeders for our Cory Neighborhoods
  • “Cow Parade” Placemats for Children’s Hospital of Colorado

STOCK THE CELLAR

Don’t miss the annual Stock the Cellar event at the neighborhood favorite Brightmarten on Wednesday, March 6 from 7:00 to 10:00 PM! What a great excuse for a GNO, date night or evening among good friends. Be sure to mark your calendar.

Bring a bottle of wine or liquor (or two) valued at a minimum of $25 or MORE and enjoy mingling with other Cory families over wine and small bites! All bottles received will be auctioned off at the Cory Auction on April 12. As an added bonus, everyone in attendance and bringing a bottle of wine or liquor will be entered into a raffle for 2 tickets to the Cory Auction on April 12!

To make things even easier, Bonnie Brae Liquor (just across the street) will have discounts on pre-selected bottles of wine and liquor!

LOVE BOAT TICKETS – NOW ON SALE

For a limited time, auction tickets are on sale for only $50 each! Your ticket on the SS Cory Cougar will include a fun evening of games, delicious food, fancy adult beverages and yacht rock and dancing. Don’t delay—ticket prices go up to $60 each on March 16th!

Also, please consider purchasing teacher and staff tickets! Last year we had enough generous Cory families donate teacher and staff tickets that anyone that wanted to join the party and bring a plus 1 was able to do so!
