PARENT POST – 1/25/19

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Happy Friday Cory Community!

We had another fantastic week celebrating change makers in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  I enjoyed hearing conversations and seeing students celebrate difference and how to make change.

Next Friday, there is no school for students because teachers will be using the day to dive deep into the i-Ready data to backwards design with intentional instructional strategies. When teachers engage in Backwards Design, they are formulating ways to provide authentic literature opportunities, engaging math inquiry projects, determining ways to build in social justice and/or service learning projects into instruction.  We are still working hard to create global connections, opportunities for expression and building meaningful and rigorous experiences into learning.  We appreciate your partnership as we visualize our mission and vision.  Thank you!

Please dress your child in warm winter gear as we only call indoor recess when it is extremely cold.  Otherwise, you can assume your child will be outside playing in the fresh air!  They will need coats, gloves, hats, and any other outdoor winter clothing you see fit.

  • Arrival- Arrival time remains at 8:30. Students can enter the building and go straight to class as they would any day. We will not let anyone inside the building until 8:30, so please do not send your child early.
  • Recess- As a staff, we will decide if conditions permit for students to have recess outside.  If it is too cold, we will have indoor recess inside the auditorium.  Students will also have the choice to play board games in the gym.  On outdoor days, students not dressed appropriately for the winter weather will have to stay inside to read a book.  Please ensure your child has warm winter gear (hats, gloves, boots) to enjoy the winter weather.

Thank you all for your partnership! We look forward to another wonderful week learning together.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Joan

With the auction only a little over 3-months away we are still VERY much in need of new families to help participate in planning this amazing event. We are hoping for an even greater parent involvement and attendance than last year. Even offering to help a couple of hours a week will make our committee even more successful.
