A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
I hope everyone had a safe and fun winter holiday and a happy new year. The staff and teachers at Cory are rejuvenated and excited to be back to school. We have many engaging learning experiences planned for the second semester of the school year. We encourage you to ask your children what they are learning in school and we hope your children talk about the engaging projects, writing and reading adventures they do at school with you at home.
Thank you PTA for hosting a coffee cart on Monday. A special thank you to Debbie Fimple and Naurin Gilger for taking coffee orders and making the day so special. We all appreciated starting the week off feeling appreciated. Thank you so much!
It is budget time! I am happy to report that our budget is healthy and will continue with all positions. If you are interested, I will be discussing the budget and the School Improvement Plan at the next CSC meeting on February 13th at 4:00 in the library.
The SchoolChoice window for the 2019-20 school year is Jan. 15 to Feb. 15. To take part, rank your top schools in order of preference (up to 12) and submit your SchoolChoice application by Feb. 15 at 4 p.m. You can access the application at schoolchoice.dpsk12.org when it becomes available on Jan. 15. We recommend signing in using your Parent Portal username and password. Applications are due no later than Feb. 15 at 4 p.m.
Choice will then match students to schools based on those preferences, as well as school admission priorities and available space.
Here’s how SchoolChoice works:
You can always get the latest information about SchoolChoice at schoolchoice.dpsk12.org. If you need additional help or have questions, start by contacting the SchoolChoice hotline at 720-423-3493 or visiting the front office.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy 2019 Cory Families! Save the Date
We’re excited that we can already announce the date and location for the 2019 Cory Elementary Auction! Stay tuned for this year’s theme…
Mark your calendars for Friday, April 12…at the same amazing venue as last year…DU’s Cable Center.
With the auction only a little over 3-months away we are still VERY much in need of new families to help participate in planning this amazing event. We are hoping for an even greater parent involvement and attendance than last year. Even offering to help a couple of hours a week will make our committee even more successful.
If you are interested in volunteering in some capacity please reach out to either Leisalsollenberger@gmail.com or Danielle firstname.lastname@example.org.
