Wow! Check out the art 3rd graders are engaging in! We are so proud of the creative ways students express and show their learning.
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
I want to take a moment and thank you all for a great start to the year. The Cory community models positive thinking, collaboration, and the desire to support all students with meaningful learning opportunities. I have enjoyed the opportunity to visit with many of you before/after school and at PTA /CSC meetings. I leave everyday with a renewed sense of the great importance of the work we do for our community. Your kindness and warmth to me has meant a great deal – so thank you, and please continue to check in with me throughout the year. I’m always interested in what’s going on with you and your family.
The procedures and daily activities of your child’s classroom should be familiar and comfortable to them by this time in the school year. If your child is still experiencing anxiety or any type of concerns, please contact your child’s teacher. You are welcome to also include me on those types of communications. We will be happy to visit with you on the phone or to schedule a meeting to talk together regarding ideas to help your child or the situation. Please don’t ever hesitate to contact us – we want to help.
The last topic I want to mention is our upcoming Cory Fall Festival and Friends of Cory. The Cory Fall Festival is a PTA sponsored event that is filled with lots of fun activities. I hope you and your family are able to stop by the festival for some games, good food, and fun times with friends. Friends of Cory is another great way to donate to fund meaningful experiences and opportunities for all students. Through your generous donations, we are able to fund many priorities. We appreciate your generosity and support.
I wish you and yours a beautiful fall season and an October filled with; a little bit of candy, some good books, warm fires and memories to treasure. Have a wonderful weekend and stay warm!

CORY FALL FESTIVAL
The Cory PTA is excited for our upcoming Carnival this Sunday 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. There will be games, prizes, obstacle courses, face painting, balloon artist and lots of fun! There will also be food trucks with hot dogs, burgers, snow cones, hot chocolate, coffee, etc…so bring your appetite.
Wristband pre-order forms are due today in the front office. After today, the price goes up to $15 and they can be purchased at the ticket booth at the Carnival. All wristbands will be at the ticket booth for pickup.
The Carnival committee is still in need of willing parents (with muscles!) to help with take-down after the Carnival. The main job is to take down the pop-up tents and carry all the tables back into Cory. Please sign up for Carnival Clean-Up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0c49ada72da3fc1-2018 . We could also use about 100 more candy treat bags for the candy walk!
Thank you so much for helping to bring this wonderful event to our kids and community. Special thanks to Blue Spruce Equity for sponsoring! Please email email@example.com with questions. We’ll see you Sunday!
Hello Cory Families!
I know you are as excited as we are to attend the Cory Carnival this year! The weather looks like it will hold out for us and should be a cool, beautiful fall day. The Cory Garden and Chicken Coop Committee will be hosting a small booth at the carnival where we will have a small Fall Market with Pumpkins and Caramel apples. We have ordered our pumpkins and will pick them up on Friday! We will need your help with the Caramel Apples, please. We would love your help with a simple donation of caramel apples for the booth. We will gladly accept premade store bought apples too! All proceeds will go to the Garden and Chicken programs. The kiddos love the caramel apples and they go fast so the more the merrier. Please following the link below to sign up for a much-appreciated donation of caramel apples.
Thank you so much! Summer and Skeeter, Cory Garden Co-Chairs
FRIENDS OF CORY
We are 3 weeks into our 5 week Friends of Cory Campaign, if you haven’t had a chance, please donate now!
If every family gave $5.00 a week (that’s equivalent to one Starbucks!), we would smash our fundraising goal of $65,000. Imagine what we could do if everyone gave even more?! That means more technology in the classroom, more field trips and fine arts experiences, and keeps our incredible specials teachers and paraprofessionals in the classrooms. Currently only 18% of families have donated to-date. With only 2 weeks left in the campaign, we are striving to reach our goal of 100% participation and ask that you give as generously as your budget allows. Cory is a top-rated school because of the generous and caring families that give to support our school and children, we can’t do it with YOU!Friends of Cory will be at the Cory Carnival this weekend too and can accept your donations: check and credit card. Stop by and donate if you haven’t had a chance yet!
Friends of Cory provides critical support to the school, including:
If you have questions, feel free to contact anyone on the Friends of Cory Committee: Travis Wanger firstname.lastname@example.org, Eric Anderson email@example.com, Pam Wandry firstname.lastname@example.org, or Jen Allison email@example.com

MARK YOUR CALENDAR: SCHOOLCHOICE FOR 2019/2020 SCHOOL YEAR
In DPS’ effort to continually improve the enrollment process for our schools and families, the SchoolChoice window for the 2019-20 school year will be Jan. 15 to Feb. 15.
This window will allow our families to receive their school placement results sooner, and also provide schools more valuable time to plan for their incoming students. Questions? Visit schoolchoice.dpsk12.org, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 720-423-3493.
CORY SCHOOL DIRECTORY
We are excited to offer a free Cory Directory for the 2018-2019 school year. By signing up for the Cory Directory, you release the information you provide to currently enrolled families. While some teachers have chosen to create classroom directories, this directory includes the entire school. The deadline for providing your information to be included in the directory is October 15. No entries will be considered after that date. Please click the link below to sign up.
Destination Imagination is Starting Again!!
Hey parents! We are looking for parent volunteers to be managers of Destination Imagination teams at Cory. Teams often meet before or after school up until the district and/or STATE competition in the spring. Managers provide a place and time for teams of 7-8 children so that the students can solved creativity problems together in order to present solutions at the competitions. It is great fun for children and a really good activity for creative minds. Parents really only supervise the children and get materials for them if they can. The students do all the work! Cory has had a really successful program over the years and have sent many teams to STATE and GLOBAL Championships. If you are finding meaningful ways to be involved with your child’s education, this is really a fantastic program. Please contact Rainy Laventure (email@example.com) or Grace Hopley (firstname.lastname@example.org) for further information. We need team managers!
We appreciate the involvement of our community! We had a group of parents support a classroom teacher by organizing the classroom library. We appreciate all the support from our community!
